'We're not getting carried away'
Kenny Dalglish insists no-one at Melwood will be getting carried away by Liverpool's excellent recent run of form as they prepare for another busy month of fixtures.
Since losing at Bolton Wanderers, the Reds have progressed to the Carling Cup final at the expense of Manchester City, beat Manchester United in the FA Cup and recorded a comprehensive 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
Nonetheless, while delighted by his side's response to their Reebok Stadium setback, Dalglish believes everyone within the Liverpool camp has remained grounded with more key games to come in February.
The boss told reporters at Melwood: "We're not getting carried away. We were good enough, strong enough and realistic enough after the Bolton game to pick ourselves up, regroup and get the last three results.
"Because of the positive results, it doesn't mean to say they (the players) are going to get carried away - and that's good for us.
"We said last week we had 16 league games left, we've got a Carling Cup final and a fifth round FA Cup tie to play, and we'll do as best we can to get as much as we can from those games.
"We knocked one of them off with the victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers, and as well as a victory it was a really good performance."
Liverpool are next in action on Monday night when they play host to third-placed Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
Spurs are currently just five points behind league leaders Manchester City, and Dalglish knows his side will be in for a tough test on what he expects to be an occasion to savour in front of the Kop.
He said: "Spurs were a wee bit unfortunate at the beginning (of the season). They had a couple of difficult fixtures - they got beat by United and lost 5-1 at home to Man City, but since then they've kicked on and have been as good as anyone in the league.
"It's a really difficult game for us, but it'll be a fantastic evening and a great occasion for everybody.
"If you're only five points off the top and there are 15 or 16 games left, I think the law of maths would tell you they are (title) contenders."
Liverpool will aim to maintain an undefeated 2011-12 home record against Spurs, though seven of their 11 Anfield league matches so far this season have ended in a draw.
Nonetheless, Dalglish believes the Reds' performances have merited more - and is backing his players to improve their home record in the remainder of the campaign.
He said: "We could have - and I think we deserve - a lot more points than what we have got. I think the performances have deserved it, but we haven't got them.
"We'll just keep plugging away. We believe in what we're doing and the way we're going about our work has, in the main, been in the right way, so we'll just continue to do that.
"Whether you're at home or whether you're away, when you're playing for Liverpool Football Club you're expected to do the best you can and you're expected to get as much as you can from every game.
"There are a lot of games we've drawn at Anfield that maybe we could have won, and even if we'd taken four more wins from the seven draws we'd have eight more points.
"We're not too far away. We'll keep going and see what happens at the end of the season."
