Jose Enrique believes improving results at home will be the key to Liverpool staying in the race for fourth spot.

The Reds remain seventh in the division following a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford this weekend, with Chelsea's defeat at Everton ensuring no ground was lost in our quest for Champions League qualification.

Despite feeling disappointed at Saturday's result, Enrique thinks results on home soil will have the biggest influence on where he and his teammates end the campaign.

Liverpool have drawn eight games at Anfield so far this term.

"Of course it's a derby game, and it's an important game for the fans because the teams have been rivals for a long time, but it is three points like any other game," Enrique told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"We lost but the truth is that we have to win more games at home. It is hard to beat Manchester United at home but against teams like Blackburn and Swansea at home we need to win the points.

"We are still in the race to be in the Champions League next season. It's hard, but Chelsea and Arsenal have lost many points too. Chelsea lost this weekend and we can't forget Newcastle.

"You never know in football - that's why everyone likes it. But we're still in the race."

Liverpool have now visited all of the top five teams this season, while both Arsenal and Chelsea still have to make the journey to Anfield.

"It's really important that we have to play these teams at home," said Enrique. "We'll have another man - you play with 12 with our fans.

"But it's not just them. There are many games left and we have to beat many teams to try and be there."
