'Everyone wants to be involved'
Fabio Aurelio is hoping he can play a part in Liverpool's excellent cup form and help Kenny Dalglish's side take a step towards another Wembley final when Brighton visit Anfield this weekend.
With a Carling Cup final berth against Cardiff City already secured, the Reds will play host to the Seagulls on Sunday aiming to progress into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
Aurelio played for 71 minutes in the 5-1 third round victory over Oldham last month - and he's hoping to be involved again against Gus Poyet's side.
"Everyone wants to be involved in the trophies as long as possible," the Brazilian told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"This season we're in one final already and we're looking forward to the opportunity to take a step closer to another one. It will be an important step and hopefully we can go through.
"I am feeling good. I am enjoying the training sessions every day and improving. I am available and waiting for an opportunity to get on the pitch again."
Liverpool have already faced Brighton this season in the third round of the Carling Cup at the Amex Stadium.
Goals from Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt ensured the Reds prevailed 2-1 on that occasion, but Aurelio is aware of the threat the Championship side can pose.
He said: "We could see they have a good team, quick forwards and they like to play football on the floor. It was a nice game that we won away.
"But this will be different as we are at home, so there is more responsibility on us to try and get to the next stage."
Aurelio impressed during a 90-minute run out for the reserves in a 4-0 win over Norwich at Melwood last week.
He believes his appearance for the second string was beneficial.
"It was good," he said. "When you don't have minutes on the pitch, it's difficult to keep the level of match fitness by just training.
"When you have a match like that, or training on a full pitch, 90 minutes is always good to improve your fitness and to see how you actual feel by playing a game. It was a good opportunity for me."
Injuries and the impressive form of Jose Enrique have restricted Aurelio to just two first-team appearances in 2011-12.
However, with plenty to play for in the remainder of the campaign, the 32-year-old knows Liverpool will look to utilise the strength of their squad - and he's eager to make the most of any opportunities that may come his way.
"We have a strong squad and everyone can do the job," he said. "It's up to the manager to decide who is involved in each match, but my aim is to be available as much as possible and see what his thoughts are.
"Everyone is looking for an opportunity. It's a big squad, but it's important for everyone to be ready because we are involved in three competitions and there will be a lot of games to come.
"We're aiming to reach two finals and get fourth spot, and I think we still have the opportunity to get it."
