Flanagan nets in thriller
Jon Flanagan was on the mark as Liverpool Reserves came back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Sunderland at the Academy of Light on Tuesday afternoon.
Liverpool's No.38 fired Rodolfo Borrell's side in front from close range before the Black Cats quickly levelled from a hotly disputed penalty, and they stormed back to lead 3-1 at the break.
Conor Coady then reduced the arrears with a header from a corner before Krisztian Adorjan levelled the score with a wind assisted cross that looped into the net.
Borrell's side played some excellent football in the second half and were unfortunate not to get the three points.
Jack Robinson played the full 90 minutes as he continues to get back to full fitness after injury.
Sunderland are top of the Barclays Premier Reserve League and had won all of their previous seven home games so far this season, netting 20 goals in the process.
Borrell's young charges rose to the occasion and gave another demonstration of their outstanding potential.
Borrell told Liverpoolfc.tv: "We produced a magnificent comeback against a good side who are top of the league and played some great football in the second half. I am pleased with the lads and we could easily have won it."
