More Wembley joy for Kuyt
Dirk Kuyt was a Wembley winner again on a busy night of international action on Wednesday.
Just over 72 hours after the Reds' Carling Cup final success, the Liverpool forward turned in another impressive performance as he starred in Holland's dramatic 3-2 win over England.
Kuyt helped the Dutch to a 2-0 lead in London, before the Three Lions drew level with two late goals. However, Arjen Robben struck deep into injury-time to secure victory for the visitors.
Steven Gerrard was replaced on 32 minutes for England, while Stewart Downing entered the action as a 64th minute substitute.
Elsewhere, Craig Bellamy captained his nation for 75 minutes on an emotional night in Cardiff as Wales paid tribute to the late Gary Speed ahead of their friendly with Costa Rica. The visitors won the match 1-0.
Newly-crowned Slovakian Footballer of the Year Martin Skrtel figured for 61 minutes of his country's 2-1 win against Turkey in Istanbul's Ataturk Stadium, while in Slovenia, Charlie Adam played the first half of Scotland's 1-1 draw in Koper.
Maxi Rodriguez marked his return to the Argentina team by helping them to a 3-1 win in Switzerland. The forward played for 71 minutes as Lionel Messi struck a hat-trick.
Luis Suarez went the distance in Uruguay's 1-1 friendly draw with Romania in Bucharest, with Sebastian Coates an unused substitute, while Pepe Reina was on the bench for Spain's 5-0 win over Venezuela in Malaga.
Meanwhile, Jordan Henderson skippered England U21s to a comprehensive 4-0 Euro 2013 qualifying victory over Belgium at the Riverside Stadium. Martin Kelly also completed the 90 for the young Lions, while Jonjo Shelvey was on the bench.
