Michael Ngoo believes the Liverpool fans could play a big part in helping the U19s reach the NextGen Series final when they take on Ajax at St Helens Langtree Park on Wednesday night (7pm).

The semi-final was switched from Anfield to St Helens new Langtree Park stadium, and the striker is hoping supporters will make the short trip to cheer the Reds on as they bid to reach the prestigious final.

"Liverpool have the greatest fans in the world and we will need their help on the night," Ngoo told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"We know they will get behind us and hopefully we can do a good job on the night for them.

"To make the final would be fantastic. It's always a pleasure to play for Liverpool. It has a great history and to get to a final would be a great thing. We always take each game as it comes and we have to be at our best on the night."

The Dutch side produced an impressive performance to beat Barcelona in the quarter-final, while Rodolfo Borrell's talented Liverpool side progressed after Tottenham's withdrawal from the competition, after the London side made the NextGen Series aware of an inadvertent breach of a competition regulation.

He added: "We can't wait for this game. I thought we played well against Tottenham but didn't take our chances, but we are delighted to have another chance in this tournament.

"Everyone is in good spirits ahead of this game. Suso is on top form, Adam Morgan is amongst the goals and we've got Raheem (Sterling) so we will just try and our best and hopefully reach the final.

"Raheem is a great player and I enjoy playing alongside him. He is always a threat and is very tricky. He always gives the opposition something to think about, on and off the ball and he will be a key player for us on the night.

"It will be a good test for us playing against Ajax, we know they are a good side and we are looking forward to it.

"We have really enjoyed playing in the NextGen Series this season and it has been a great experience for all of us."

The former Southend United youngster also spoke of the respect the squad has for coach Borrell.

He added: "Rodolfo is a great manager. You look at the Barcelona side now and he coached a lot of the lads in that team.

"That just shows you how highly regarded he is and we all really enjoy working for him. He is always helping us and we can only become better players working  with Rodolfo."

Ngoo was left on the bench as a precaution during last week's goalless draw with an experienced Everton XI at Goodison Park, but he is raring to go against Ajax having scored twice in his last game during the 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic.

He said: "It's always good to score goals as it gives you a lot of confidence.

"I've not been happy with my form so far this season but I am working hard in training and want to do my best for this team and finish the season strongly."
