Conor Coady has admitted he can't wait to lead out Liverpool's U19s in their NextGen Series semi-final with Ajax at St Helens Langtree Park on Wednesday night as the young Reds bid to make the showpiece final.

The Dutch outfit beat Barcelona 3-0 on their own patch in Spain in the quarter-final and will be a formidable outfit to get past but the midfielder is confident Rodolfo Borrell's side have what it takes to reach the final.

Coady told Liverpoolfc.tv: "I can't wait. It should be a good game for all the fans that are coming to watch us and hopefully we can show what we can do.

"This has got to be up there with one of the biggest games I will have played in and all the boys are looking forward to it.

"At the end of the day we have to treat it like just a normal game, go out and play our usual game and hopefully that will enough for us to get to the final.

"It's fantastic to captain Liverpool and every time I get the chance it's a great experience. To lead the boys out is always brilliant for me and I can't wait to do it on Wednesday night.

"Playing in the NextGen Series has been a brilliant experience for all of us. Hopefully we can go all the way now and do the job.

"We've learnt to play against some top opposition. Some of the sides we have played like Sporting Lisbon and Wolfsburg have been fantastic. Playing against different styles has been great for the future for all of us."

Coady believes the performance during last week's draw with an experienced Everton outfit at Goodison Park was the best preparation for the youngsters to take into this tie with Ajax.

"It was a great for us to play against those experienced players and it was the ideal game for us ahead of Everton," he said.

"If we play like we did against Everton last week then we are confident we can do well. It will be a good occasion for everyone."

Despite losing 1-0 in the quarter-finals to Tottenham at White Hart Lane, Liverpool were reinstated to the competition after the Londoners withdrawal when Spurs made the NextGen Series aware of an inadvertent breach of a competition regulation.

He added: "The way we played against Spurs, even though we didn't get the result and different circumstances took us through, was a real positive.

"We created some great chances on the night and played some great stuff.

"After the Spurs game the dressing room wasn't a nice place to be. We were all down because we thought we deserved to win so when we found out we were through we were ecstatic.

"We've got a job to do now against Ajax and we can't wait for the game.

"We are at the best club in the world. The coaches know what is best for us and playing in this tournament has been great for our development.

"We showed against Everton we can play against the big teams and we will go into it with confidence. We want to show the fans what this team can do."

The game is being played at St Helens new Langtree Park stadium and Coady can't wait to experience it for the first time.

He said: "It's a new ground and it looks fantastic. There should be a good atmosphere and we are looking forward to it."
