Justice tour set for new dates
After the widespread success of their December concerts, the Justice Tonight Tour will return to venues in Dublin and Belfast at the end of this month.
Mick Jones, from The Clash and Big Audio Dynamite, will re-unite with Pete Wylie, The Farm and special guests as they take to the stage at The Academy in Dublin on March 30 and then The Spring & Airbrake in Belfast on March 31.
The tour is in aid of the Hillsborough Justice Campaign and was first conceived of by Peter Hooton, the lead singer of The Farm, as part of a one-off event at Liverpool's Olympia on September 24, 2011.
That night, Jones performed a selection of famous Clash hits for the first time since 1982 in front of more than a thousand fans and the event's success prompted the group of musicians to take their set on a tour of the UK.
In London they were joined by Primal Scream and Paul Simonon, in Liverpool Billy Bragg and John Power took to the stage with comedian John Bishop, and in Cardiff James Dean Bradfield showed his support.
But perhaps the highlight of December's tour was the historic appearance of John Squire and Ian Brown of The Stone Roses, who chose the Justice Tonight Tour in Manchester to make their first appearance on the same stage together for 15 years.
Hooton told Liverpoolfc.tv: "The tour was a magnificent success. Not just in the crowds who turned out but in the support from musicians. From Glasvegas in Glasgow, The Stone Roses in Manchester, to Reverend and the Makers and Richard Hawley in Sheffield, it was great.
"Everywhere we went the music was unbelievable and the support was fantastic. The tours are all about raising awareness for the justice campaign. That's what John Squire and Ian Brown said - some things just transcend football - and this issue does.
"Mick Jones is the real driving force behind the whole thing. He was the one saying he wanted to continue the tour in Ireland. He said he feels like he's protesting and fighting for justice again, a feeling he hasn't felt since his early days of writing songs in The Clash.
"He wants to take this show around the world and if Mick wants to do something, as musicians, we're more than happy to go along."
Tickets are £20. For details, please contact the venues directly.
