The view from Wigan
Wigan Athletic fan Paul Farrington from wiganer.net provides the view from the DW Stadium ahead of Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash at Anfield.
How are Wigan fans feeling about a trip to Anfield on Saturday?
We're never optimistic about our games at the moment. We seem to be playing well overall but for whatever reason we have some major difficulties in scoring goals and then at the other end we concede for fun. The prospect of facing Liverpool, at Anfield, is not what we need given our present league position and need for points.
Who should we be worried about in the Wigan side?
Victor Moses is our main attacking bright spark, although Shaun Maloney has impressed in our last two games. Those two offer something different to our usual slow paced and predictable passing play.
What players are you worried about on our side?
Suarez goes without saying. The little Uruguayan is always liable to score a goal out of nothing. Steven Gerrard is always a worry for opposing teams as he seems to have an impact on the optimism in the air, especially at Anfield.
What's the best way to beat Martinez's men?
Turn up. We're very poor at the back especially against a quick, sharp striker like Suarez. Gary Caldwell is worryingly slow whilst Antolin Alcaraz is always prone to suicidal moments when in possession.
One song we're bound to hear from the away end?
A favourite amongst the Latics fans this season since the permanent addition of Ali Al-Habsi has been regarding his dislike for the Trotters. Then there is the old favourite amongst the more aged in the away end; You are my sunshine!
What's been the best and worst thing about being a Wigan fan?
The best thing is supporting your home town team and being witness to a meteoric rise up from the bottom division to the Premier League. The worst is the realisation that this looks like the season we could drop back down a division.
Can you stay up this season?
It is not beyond the realms of possibility, but given Blackburn's win against Sunderland, and Q.P.R.'s comeback against Liverpool in the week, it is looking very difficult for us now.
Prediction for the game?
I hate to say it but I can't see beyond a convincing home win. 3-0 to Liverpool with Suarez running riot.
