Rodolfo Borrell today spoke of his pride after his U19 squad finished third in the NextGen Series after an impressive 2-0 win over Marseille.

The French outfit had beaten Barcelona amongst others in the group stages and lost to Inter Milan in the semi-final on Wednesday night.

The third and fourth place play-off was played at Chelsea's Cobham training ground on Saturday, and the young Reds showed their undoubted qualities.

Despite the absence of Raheem Sterling, who was about to make his first team debut against Wigan, goals from Michael Ngoo and Adam Morgan gave the Reds a deserved win.

Jack Robinson also made a succesful return to action after injury and played for 65 minutes.

The prolific Morgan took his tally to 17 goals for the season so far and he is well on course to finishing the campaign with 20 goals for the second season running at Academy level.

Borrell told Liverpoolfc.tv: "It was a fantastic performance from the lads and I am proud of them.

"It was a great way for us to bounce back from the Ajax game and it was a good way to end our first season in the NextGen Series.
