Be part of the Sea Odyssey
If you're in the city for Liverpool's clash against West Brom on April 22, the stars of the Barclays Premier League won't be the only giants you'll get to watch in action.
Liverpool FC has thrown its full weight behind a display that will see a 30-foot-tall model called Little Girl Giant parade through the streets of Anfield.
The event was organized by the world's leading street theatre company, Royal De Luxe (RDL), and the display will be the biggest of its kind in the UK in 2012.
It is called the Sea Odyssey and will convey the story of how the human spirit triumphed over the Titanic tragedy 100 years ago.
Before reaching the city centre, the parade will wind its way through parts of north Liverpool including Stanley Park, Walton Lane, Breck Road, Everton and Anfield.
It will explore the areas around both football clubs as well as taking in some of the stunning views of the city's skyline from the top of Everton Park.
Meanwhile, Stanley Park, situated between city's two football grounds, will play host a food and drink festival backed by Liverpool Vision that will feature live music, a family activity zone and children's play area.
Liverpool city council's cabinet member for culture and tourism, Cllr Wendy Simon, added: "Sea Odyssey will be a seminal event for the city. We want the occasion to not just be a huge success for the city in April, but bring a longer lasting legacy as a result of the area being placed in such a unique spotlight.
"Tens of thousands of people visit the north end for football matches, but rarely spend any more time there, so this is the perfect opportunity to show off the area and its potential, and as a result, hopefully encourage investment.
"Everton Park is a prime example of a significant city asset in close proximity to the city centre which some people, even Liverpudlians, may not be aware of - so it's a case of highlighting these hidden gems and transforming people's perceptions of the area."
Since 2009, the RDL theatre company has attracted audiences of around 9.6million to stunning events in Nantes, Berlin, Santiago, Antwerp and Guadalajara.
And it is estimated that this year's Liverpool exhibition will draw around 250,000 people. The event will get underway on Friday 20 and end on Sunday 22 April, so if you've planned to watch the Reds at Anfield that day you might just be in for a giant surprise.
The full route and locations will not be released until a week or two prior to the event, but along with a tour of north Liverpool, parts of the spectacular display will also take place in the city centre.
Leader of Liverpool City Council, Cllr Joe Anderson, added: "This will be a magical piece of theatre, the likes of which many people will never have seen before.
"To work with such a world renowned company as Royal De Luxe is a real coup for Liverpool and it's wonderful we can mark this important anniversary with an unforgettable event."
Stanley Park Festival organiser Gemma McGowan said: "Stanley Park Festival will be a real family day-out, those coming to north Liverpool will be able to see that it has changed a great deal, and the arrival of Sea Odyssey rubber stamps this.
"The festival will be the icing on the cake for a landmark moment for this area and we hope to welcome guests from all across the city and beyond.
""We have a few surprises up our sleeve that will be revealed nearer the time, but let's just say Stanley Park Festival will be a fantastic celebration for how far this area has come."
