Steven Gerrard has hailed the performances of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll after the pair fired Liverpool to an FA Cup final against Chelsea on May 5.

The forwards linked-up on the Wembley turf to terrorised the Everton back-four on a memorable day for Reds fans.

Suarez levelled proceedings on 62 minutes after latching onto a Sylvain Distan back-pass. Then Carroll sealed the victory three mintes from time soaring above Marouane Fellaini to head past Tim Howard and send the red half of Wembley into ecstasy.

"They were two good performances from them and they showed what they are all about," Gerrard told the Liverpool Echo. "We have got every faith in them as a partnership. They showed us again that if they are playing together they will deliver.

"We're all happy for Andy to get the winner. He's a good player and he's proved on the big stage what he's capable of. He proved all his critics wrong. He was superb for us and he has been every time he's been called upon.

"I'm sure he'll deliver for us again in the final if called upon. If we go on and win this cup we can look at the season as a success as far as the cups are concerned."

Gerrard lifted the FA Cup as Liverpool skipper in 2006 at the end of a rollercoaster final against West Ham at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

That day he gave one of the performances of his career and scored arguably the finest goal ever netted in an English cup final, so the No.8 knows what huge effort will be required from the players if they are to win Liverpool's eighth FA Cup in May.

"Now we need to finish the job off," said Gerrard.  "We're relieved to get through but we've won nothing yet. We've won a semi-final but the big game is going to be the final now. It's going to be a difficult game and we need to finish the job off. There was a lot of pressure on the team with us playing against our big rivals.

"To be a goal down against Everton is a very difficult situation but we showed what we are all about. We all rallied around and proved we are a good team. We could have won the game even more comfortably with the chances we created in the second half."
