What on earth is Shirley Bassey doing sitting on a piano with the Colossus Ron Yeats at the keyboard surrounded by fellow Liverpool players?

The answer to the above conundrum - and a lot more to surprise and excite you - can be found in words and pictures in Tales Of The Anfield Legends, a new stage show from the team that brought you the hit production about Bill Shankly, that hits Southport this Friday night.

This time the format is completely different as Kop heroes Ian St John, Ian Callaghan, Chris Lawler and Ron Yeats will join presenter John Keith on stage at Southport Theatre's Floral Hall to bring you the magic and glory of Liverpool FC in their own words and with their favourite personal pictures.

St John said: "We've raided our scrapbooks to pick the treasured photographs of our careers and we'll tell the stories behind them as each picture is displayed on a giant screen on stage.

"Some of the pictures are dramatic, some are funny, others offbeat and some nostalgic. But they add up to a wonderful illustration in words and pictures of a huge slice of Anfield history."

The four legends also tell the inside story of the world famous Boot Room, the small, windowless space that became world famous as the nerve centre of Liverpool's exploits.

And as well as Shankly, the celebrated quartet tell revealing stories about the great Bob Paisley and Joe Fagan, the two managers who followed Shankly and wrote their names indelibly in the record books.

They also spill the beans about other Anfield icons like Roger Hunt, Gerry Byrne, Tommy Smith, Kevin Keegan and John Toshack. They bring us the inside story on how the Anfield club's great feats were plotted and planned, the League and Cup triumphs and how Liverpool became Kings of Europe.

"Every picture tells a story and we'll tell you why each one is special to us, " added St John, the Scot who became a folk hero of the Kop.
