Little Girl Giant in Liverpool
They came in their thousands to catch a glimpse of the mysterious Little Girl Giant and Liverpool FC Youth Ambassadors were on hand to help make sure the day was a success.
On a bright morning at Stanley Park, the world's leading street theatre company Royal De Luxe astounded onlookers by bringing a 30-foot model of a girl and her pet dog to life.
When the crowds descended on the park the two figures were motionless. Then, at 9.45am, a 10,000-strong audience watched as the girl and her dog, Xolo, awoke and departed in the direction of Goodison Park.
The pair made their way up Anfield Road and Sleepers Hill before parading down Oakfield Road and past the Kop.
The girl will roam the city centre and north Liverpool over the next two days as part of a spectacular show inspired by the Titanic story.
And as she made her way past the Paisley Gateway, Liverpoolfc.tv caught up with two of the club's Youth Ambassadors.
"We're helping out on the behalf of the city council and the football club," said Zak Taylor. "We've been busy guiding people about, seeing if they need any help. It's been hectic but it's also been enjoyable. It's been great, all the kids are enjoying seeing the giants and just being involved in it all is great for us."
Leila Blackett added: "We've been helping with the stewarding and keeping people off the roads. As part of our LFC Ambassadors scheme we go into town on a match day and meet visitors coming in to watch the game and today is just more of the same. I'm loving it."
Created in conjunction with Liverpool City Council, the LFC Youth Ambassadors scheme has offered 25 youngsters aged 16-19 part-time employment with the club following a selection process.
"Today we've been helping out with a massive community project and the ambassadors are helping the giants go around our city," said Ryan Moignard, LFC community coach. "They've also been assisting the public. This is a key part of community work. You can see the amount of people that are here today, the club is mixing with the community and it's a fantastic occasion."
