Jonjo Shelvey claims Luis Suarez's second goal during the 3-0 win at Norwich was better than the sublime chip that clinched the hat-trick.

After combining with Steven Gerrard for the opening goal, Suarez burst past Canaries defender Elliott Ward before drilling an unstoppable low drive into the far corner.

"I just think the first goal was class and the second goal was even better than the third goal because it just summed him up and showed what he is as a player," Shelvey told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"He is just a great player for Liverpool and he is a match winner along with Stevie. It's just an honour to play with him."

Describing the moment when Suarez lobbed the ball from over 40-yards out over John Ruddy and into the net to complete his treble, Shelvey joked: "I looked over at Stevie as Luis shot because he was about to cane him for not passing to him, but it was a good job it did go in because he would have got a bit of a rollicking off a few of the players.

"It was such a great goal and I think their keeper thought it was going over the bar but it dipped over him."

The No.33 also revealed why he apologised to the Liverpool fans on twitter following a miss from close range during the win at Carrow Road.

"I just wanted to let people know that I should be scoring from there," he added.

"I just took my eye off the ball. People have said there was a bobble but I've not watched it back to be honest and I don't think I will watch it back.

"I will just forget about it, keep getting into the box and hopefully get my first Premier League goal soon."

While his disappointment at not registering his first top-flight goal in a red shirt was obvious, a tweet from injured teammate Lucas praising his overall display was a great tonic.

He added: "I didn't see it at first before someone re-tweeted it. It's nice when someone like Lucas gives you that little bit of extra support. I have always admired him as a player and look up to him.

"It just gives you that little boost of confidence and it's nice that he did that."
