Stevie: No Blues boredom
Liverpool may have faced Chelsea on numerous occasions over the last few years but Steven Gerrard never tires of playing huge games against the west London club.
In the past decade the Reds and Blues have faced each other in Titanic struggles in the Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and Premier League.
Having been involved in so many big games between the sides Gerrard could be forgiven for growing weary of facing such a familiar foe, but with a massive FA Cup final to play at Wembley on Saturday, that certainly isn't the case.
“I don’t think we ever get bored of playing them,” the Liverpool skipper states exclusively in this week's LFC magazine. “They are fantastic clashes, with top players all over the pitch.
“There’s a big interest in the games and it’s a real challenge for both teams. It seems that for us to win something we have to overcome them.”
While our skipper admits that Chelsea will go into the weekend's game as favourites, history tells him that his side have nothing to fear.
Gerrard said: ”Whenever we’ve played them we’ve never gone in to those contests lacking belief. We’ve definitely held our own, if not got the better of them.
“I won’t deny that it’s going to be difficult, they always are tough games because Chelsea are a powerful side. If you look at the league table they are above us. They’ve shown some very good form under Di Matteo, so they are probably slight favourites.”
The full Gerrard exclusive, plus interviews with John Barnes, Brad Jones and Jonjo Shelvey – and a 20-question FA Cup quiz – are in this week's cup final countdown LFC magazine.
