The LFC Foundation has donated 12 tickets for Saturday's FA Cup final clash with Chelsea to armed forces charities in recognition of their hard work and bravery.

The Reds have supplied Tickets for Troops and Help for Heroes with three pairs of tickets each for the Wembley showdown on Saturday.

Lord Marland, chairman of Tickets for Troops, said: "This is a fantastic gesture by such a big club as Liverpool for such a massive match as an FA Cup final and demonstrates the club's respect and recognition of our armed forces. We are very grateful."

Tickets for Troops was set up in 2009 to provide members of the armed forces with free tickets for major sporting events, theatre performances, music concerts and cultural attractions.

Help for Heroes was founded in 2007 and aims to provide support to servicemen and women injured in conflict.

Sergeant Andy Kirk, the Merseyside military representative for Tickets for Troops and Help for Heroes charities, collected the tickets from the LFC Foundation on Thursday.

"It's great for Liverpool to donate tickets for any game to the forces, let alone the FA Cup final, because we do appreciate the gesture," he said.

"It's not very often we can get to football games because of the job, or if we can then we can't get tickets because we don't go to enough games, so to have tickets donated to Help for Heroes and Tickets for Troops is very much appreciated.

"Liverpool were kind enough to donate tickets for Carling Cup final, but to be honest we weren't expecting any phone calls this time considering the allocation the club received for the FA Cup final.

"So for them to donate the tickets was a shock, be we are very, very grateful. It's a fantastic gesture."
