Luis wants more glory

Having helped inflict heartache on Everton supporters with a goal in the 2-1 win last month, our 17-goal striker wants to see more miserable Blues this evening.

"This has to be the most important week of the season as we are back playing in another final,” Suarez told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"For me personally I have good memories of the place so let's hope that this winning run there can continue.

"I think for any striker, it's always important and special when you score a goal, but when you do it in a semi-final against Everton, at the end of the ground with all the Liverpool fans, it was just a great moment.

"I'm sure it will be one of the goals that I will always remember, for the buzz and the atmosphere in the stadium."

Andy Carroll netted the winner for Kenny Dalglish's charges on the day, and our Uruguayan star admits it was a fitting reward for his strike partner.

He added: "It was great that it was Andy as he's been doing so much for the team and it was just what he needed, to get a goal like that, and it made it a truly incredible day.

"It was a spectacular moment after Andy's goal, just being out there on the pitch was great, especially since it was at Wembley and it was the winner right at the end of the game against our local rivals Everton.

"I think the first thing that went through my mind when the referee blew his whistle was that it was another final for Liverpool.

"I think the club really deserves to be in another final, as although the league form has been disappointing, I think that our performances in the Cup deserved to be rewarded, so it was unbelievable just how happy we all were after the game."

Suarez also netted a fine goal during the quarter-final against Stoke and added: "It was a nice goal but my over riding memory of that game is the effort and determination shown by the whole side, just like the spirit we showed against Everton when we overturned a deficit and went on to win the game.

"The important thing is that the team puts in a good performance, and that's what always sticks with me, not just the goal.

"I think that in both the Carling and the FA Cups we have knocked out some tough opponents.

"In the Carling Cup we were drawn away against difficult sides all the way through, and in the FA Cup I think we were lucky enough to be at home in the majority of the rounds, but when you can knock out the likes of Manchester United, Stoke and Everton along the way, it demonstrates the team are aiming high and can produce a performance when it needs to."

It is that spirit and togetherness which Suarez insists gives the team confidence ahead of the meeting with a Chelsea side they have already beaten twice at Stamford Bridge this season.

Roberto Di Matteo's side of course are on a real high after they knocked out Barcelona at the Nou Camp to reach the Champions League final, but despite having respect for the London side, the No.7 remains quietly confident Liverpool can win a second trophy this season.

"I think it's a good thing that the whole group is feeling confident," he said.

"We're coming off the back of the semi-final win over Everton and a great win at Norwich. We slipped up against Fulham but our confidence is still quite high as we face Chelsea.

"They have been in good form lately too, and they of course knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League, and we have to be aware of that, however we've managed to beat them twice at their place this season.

"Of course our manager will be studying them closely and then it's down to us to carry out his plans out there during the game.

"From a trophy point of view it would have been a great season, to have won two out of the three that you competed for - that would be superb, but for now we've got a match to play and I prefer to leave those thoughts until after Saturday's game.

"I've seen quite a few Chelsea games. Against Barcelona they played a different style to what we see here in the Premier League.

"Against Barcelona they had nine men along the edge of the area and so it was very difficult for Barcelona to find a way through them. That wasn't the real Chelsea as they were determined to hold on to their lead from Stamford Bridge so they had to play it cagily and concentrate on defending.

"We saw the real Chelsea last weekend where they came out on the attack and played good football and didn't just close down the space.

"Games against them are always enjoyable. Let's hope that it's an entertaining final for both sets of supporters and that the players can enjoy ourselves out there too."

If the game was to go to penalties Suarez admits he wouldn't hesitate if he was asked to take one.

He added: "I wouldn't have any problem taking one. I've done it before for Uruguay, so I'd be fine, but let's hope that Saturday doesn't get to a penalty shoot-out."

Having been rested for the midweek clash with Fulham Suarez goes into the game on the back of his first hat-trick in a red shirt during the 3-0 win at Norwich.

His goal to clinch the treble was a goal of the season contender and he admits it was a sweet moment to get it right in front of the travelling Kop.

He added: "That made it all the more special. The Liverpool fans were right there where I scored and it's something they deserved that after all the support and good wishes I've had for a good while now from them.

"Football is all about enjoying moments like that and being happy and I hope that after the other day they were just that."

On his spectacular lob that clinched the hat-trick, he said: "I've tried before and it's not come off but I think this time it was one of those days where they were flying in for me from wherever I shot, but the main thing was that it helped the team to a victory, as well as it being a nice goal.

"It's not easy to score three in a game and as a striker you are delighted, but that's now in the past and the important thing now is to focus on the final."
