Video: Kenny's Wembley preview
Kenny Dalglish stressed the importance of the fans to everyone at Liverpool Football Club and promised them that the team are fully committed to making tomorrow's cup final a day to remember.
The manager was talking to Liverpoolfc.tv ahead of the Reds' showpiece clash against Chelsea at Wembley.
Tomorrow's opponents are no strangers to playing at the national stadium in the cup - this will be their fourth appearance in the FA Cup final in six years.
However, Dalglish insisted the fact that his players have played at the new Wembley three times in the past four months means they won't be overawed by the occasion.
Here's what the manager had to say:
Kenny, we're just 24 hours away from the FA Cup final, is there a bit of an extra buzz about training today, amongst the lads?
I think everybody knows what lies ahead of us. Everybody knows we're going to play in an FA Cup final and if you're not excited about that, then I think you should just pack it in. There is a bit of excitement about the place. We'll just try and travel and arrange things in the same manner as we have done in the previous two visits. We'll just go and see where we get from there.
And in your opinion, does the FA Cup final still represent the biggest fixture in the domestic calendar?
I don't know if it's the biggest fixture but for us tomorrow it is, yes. I think we've treated the competition with respect, all the way through. And I think that both teams have got their reward for that. They're both in the final. The FA Cup final is a special day. We won't be aware of what's going on elsewhere; we'll just be concentrating on the FA Cup final.
Do you, personally, still get the same buzz as when you were involved in your first FA Cup final as a player, as a manager?
I think it's always special to go to the cup final. For me, the most enjoyable one has been the most recent success because you don't know when the next one is going to come. As I say, we just look forward to the day, the occasion and we'll try to do our very best to get a positive result.
A lot of players are experiencing an FA Cup final for the first time, amongst the squad. Will games like this stand them in good stead for future challenges that lie ahead?
It would never do us any harm to be playing in cup finals. Some of them have experienced it at some stage or another. Most of them who hadn't experienced an FA Cup final, played in the Carling Cup final. So they've got experience of playing at Wembley twice now and I'm sure that helps people settle down a wee bit. There's always the glamour and the name of Wembley that can maybe make players that bit more nervous or agitated but having been there, we've experienced it and we've enjoyed it, so we're looking forward to it.
And how determined are the players and the staff to reward the supporters for their ongoing support throughout the season and to give them a day that they will never forget?
I think it's a fantastic effort from the players in getting to Wembley twice. The semi-final would count as three but two finals is a fantastic achievement for the boys. If they go and win it, then that will be the icing on the cake. There's nobody at this football club that doesn't appreciate or understand what the supporters mean to the football club and the contribution that they make. And the help they can give the players on the pitch as well on the day. There's nobody here who will ever undermine the importance of the supporters to us and the importance of the role they play. And neither should they themselves.
