After the conclusion of the Premier League's 20th season, Liverpoolfc.tv are asking fans to name the players that would make up their dream team of the last two decades.

Today it's the turn of the defenders - and we want you to decide who have been our top two centre-backs of the last 20 years.

Jamie Carragher (484 league apps 1996 - )

Mr Liverpool. Jamie Carragher could well have been nominated in three positions in our poll, such has been his contribution to the Reds' cause over his 699 appearances so far. Carra developed into a world-class centre-back after being moved into the position by Rafael Benitez in 2004, and has played an integral part in each of Liverpool's trophy successes since 1998.

Sami Hyypia (318 league apps 1999-2009)

The legendary Finn was signed by Gerard Houllier in the summer of 1999 and went on to establish himself as one of the finest centre-backs to have ever played for Liverpool. Always cool and composed, Hyypia was instrumental in the treble-winning triumph of 2001 and the Chmapions League glory of Istanbul.

Stephane Henchoz (135 league apps 1999-2005)

Snapped-up from Blackburn Rovers in 1999, Stephane Henchoz formed what was at times a seemingly impenetrable centre-back partnership with Sami Hyypia. The blonde duo provided Gerard Houllier's men with the solid footing required for their 2001 treble cup success.

Martin Skrtel (126 league apps 2008 - )

Rafael Benitez made Martin Skrtel Liverpool's most expensive defender of all time when he recruited the hulking centre-back from Zenit St Petersburg in January 2008. The Slovakian has since established himself as one of the Barclays Premier League's best defenders, and was voted Liverpool's Player of the Season for 2011-12 by fans on this website.

Daniel Agger (120 league apps 2006 - )

The classy Dane was one of Europe's most sought-after young talents when he arrived from Brondby in January 2006 and Liverpool fans quickly discovered that as well as being a tough centre-back, Agger was also capable of offering a threat in attack. The 27-year-old established a commanding pairing with Skrtel in 2011-12, keeping Carragher on the sidelines for a spell.

Neil Ruddock (115 league apps 1993-98)

Powerful centre-back Neil Ruddock formed part of the Liverpool teams that mounted a challenge for the league title in 1995-96 and 1996-97. He also famously scored the equaliser in a 3-3 draw with Manchester United at Anfield.

John Scales (65 league apps 1994-96)

The elegant defender spent two years at Anfield following his transfer from Wimbledon in 1994 as part of Roy Evans's defensive overhaul. However, injuries blighted his time with the Reds and he moved to Spurs in 1996.

Mark Wright (158 league apps 1991-97)

Mark Wright provided an experienced presence in the heart of Liverpool's defence as they challenged for the title in the mid-90s. Dominant in the air and composed on the ground, he sadly had to retire from the game in 1998.

Phil Babb (128 league apps 1994-99)

Signed on the back of a brilliant World Cup with the Republic of Ireland, Babb made more than a century of league appearances for Liverpool in the Premier League, largely as part of a 5-3-2 formation.
