Most Exciting PL Games: 88
A late winner from Emile Heskey to seal a win at the Reebok continues our brand new summer feature of Liverpool's 100 Most Exciting Premier League Games at No.88.
LFC's Most Exciting PL Game No.88: September 14, 2002. Bolton 2-3 Liverpool.
Michael Owen was a surprise omission from the line-up to face Sam Allardyce's side and speculation post-match suggested that the forward was being rested for a tough tie against Valencia in the Champions League two days later.
Emile Heskey, who according to a Liverpool Echo report had been 'out of sorts' so far that year, chose the 'perfect time' to open his goal scoring account. Before that though, Milan Baros netted on his debut to give the Reds the lead on the brink of half-time after a clever dummy from Bruno Cheyrou.
Bolton levelled through Ricardo Gardner before Baros fired Houllier's men back into the lead with 20 minutes remaining. Then, right at the death, Ivan Campo, making his Bolton debut on loan from Real Madrid, latched onto a Kevin Nolan cross to seemingly clinch a point for his new club.
But the home crowd's celebrations were abruptly cut short when Heskey sealed victory for the Reds after fine work from Danny Murphy and substitute John Arne Riise.
