It was a truly astounding and emotional day at Anfield when Kenny Dalglish led Blackburn Rovers to the Premier League title, despite Liverpool winning the match in dramatic circumstances.

Alan Shearer fired Rovers in front before John Barnes equalised after 64 minutes.

Then with the very last kick of the game Jamie Redknapp curled home a free-kick at the Anfield Road end to make it 2-1 and an eery silence almost greeted the goal as fans wondered whether that goal had handed rivals Manchester United the title.

When news quickly filtered through from Upton Park that United had failed to beat West Ham, Blackburn Rovers were confirmed as Champions, and Dalglish could be seen celebrating with that trademark smile.
