A Liverpool fan was given the chance to achieve his dream and play in a winning cup side at Anfield, thanks to Lucozade Sport.

Anfield played host to the finals day of the Lucozade 'Faster. Stronger For Longer' Cup on May 18, and for Red hot fan Glenn Cookson it was a day to remember as his side 'Birch Services' were crowned as Champions.

The Lucozade Faster. Stronger For Longer Cup has been running within all Lucozade Powerleague centres across the UK since March, and Anfield was selected as the venue for the Finals Day.

Eight teams qualified to play on the hallowed turf and, following some closely competitive games, the final was contested between Birch Services and International FC.

In a cagey opening to the final, chances were hard to come by. Indeed, International FC started the brightest and looked sharp with Birch Services defenders Paul Roddam and Mark Williams having to be on their guard whilst a couple of smart saves from our man Glenn Cookson kept Birch Services in the match.

However, as the game wore on it was the Birch Services boys that proved that they could go Faster Stronger For Longer and this was crucial as they romped home with a 4-0 victory.

Glenn was named Player of the Tournament by tournament organisers Lucozade, winning a signed Liverpool FC shirt.

He played in all four games and kept four clean sheets - a fantastic effort it has to be said and something Pepe Reina would be proud of.
