Liverpool Ladies were beaten 2-0 by rivals Everton in the Women's Super League at Widnes Vikings' Halton Stadium.

First-half strikes from Brooke Chaplen and Lucia Bronze won the derby for the Blues on a day when Liverpool manager Robbie Johnson made a single change to the side who lost 3-1 to Birmingham.

The Reds started brightly and on 10 minutes Kelly Jones cut the ball back for Katie Brushell, who fired wide of Rachel Brown's left hand post.

Liverpool's 'keeper Nicola Davies was called into action on a couple of occasions and she managed to keep the Blues at bay until Chaplen curled an unstoppable strike into the top left hand corner to give Everton the lead.

Bronze doubled the deficit 15 minutes later, finding space to fire home from the edge of the area for 2-0.
