Steven Gerrard has backed Jordan Henderson to take his chance for England after being called-up to the squad for Euro 2012 following an injury to Frank Lampard.

Liverpool's No.14 is one of five Anfield aces in Roy Hodgson's squad and the England skipper insists the midfielder will let nobody down when the opportunity arises.

"Jordan is buzzing," said Gerrard.

"Obviously no-one wants to see a player get injured and you come in but you have to take your opportunity and Jordan’s a very exciting player, one for the future, and it's a great opportunity for him."

With England's first game of Euro 2012 on the horizon against France on June 11, Saturday evening's friendly with Belgium gives the Three Lions a chance to get a morale boosting performance ahead of the tournament.

Gerrard insists the priority is to try and win the game and claims the squad will not be holding back and taking things lightly.

He added: "We will go for it. It's a big game and it's the last preparation game before our Euro 2012 opener against France.

"We want to win the game and we want to go in the tournament on a high, improve the confidence and the belief and it's an opportunity for people to stake claims for the places, so I don't think you will see anyone holding back and we want to win this game.

"The Belgium team is very strong and it has world class players. They are very young and I think the future is very bright for Belgium and this is a very tough test for England."
