England captain Steven Gerrard has given his support to the Women's national football team who are trying to emulate the men by qualifying for a major tournament.

Hope Powell's side take on Holland at Salford City Stadium on Sunday, June 17, needing a win to keep alive their hopes of topping their Euro 2013 qualifying group, and the inspirational Kop skipper hopes the men's Euro adventures can inspire their female counterparts.

Gerrard said: "The women's team have got a must-win qualifier when we are out in Poland and Ukraine.

"We know they'll be cheering us on and we certainly wish them the best of luck against Holland. Hopefully we can have two England teams at a Euro Finals."

New England Women's captain Casey Stoney, pictured with Gerrard, said: "The men are moving into their Euros and we wish them all the best.

"We got to the quarters final of the World Cup last year and the Final of Euro 2009 so let's hope they can do even better.

"For us it's still all about qualification and our next game against Holland is crucial because they currently top the group and only one team automatically qualifies.

"The Dutch fans created a brilliant atmosphere out there and we're looking for a real English fan party over here."
