Liverpool soared back to the summit of English football courtesy of a ruthless 6-0 win at Portman Road.
Ipswich were destroyed by Gerard Houllier's title contenders on a day when Abel Xavier netted on his Liverpool debut to set the ball rolling on a rout.
Emile Heskey doubled the Reds' advantage on 43 minutes before Sami Hyypia added a third seven minutes after the interval.
Michael Owen was next to add his name to the score-sheet. The forward stuck twice in the space of 10 minutes to see Liverpool cruising at 5-0 with 20 minutes remaining.
Heskey sealed the win at 6-0 on 90 minutes.
