This was the season Liverpool came closest to adding to their tally of 18 league titles since the last time they were champions of England.
It was a season in which a multitude of records were broken for a side who finished 2nd in the league table and it was a year characterised by famous victories and thrilling fight-backs.
The Reds exuded the never-say-die attitude of true title contenders throughout the season; they pulled off late wins at Portsmouth, at the Etihad and against Wigan at Anfield.
The latter saw acrobatics take centre stage over the football at times on a day when Amr Zaki netted two wonderful goals in front of the Kop.
However, late strikes from Albert Riera and then a scissor kick from Dirk Kuyt on 85 minutes clinched another memorable win for the Reds.
