VIDEO: Andy on England's Reds
Andy Carroll believes being surrounded by Liverpool teammates at this summer's European Championships has helped newcomers Jordan Henderson and Martin Kelly to settle into the England squad.
Six Reds have been drafted into Roy Hodgson's squad for Euro 2012 - two more than any other side - and Carroll admitted he too has been reaping the benefits of training alongside club teammates.
"All the lads are getting on well," Carroll told FATV. "It helps if there are more players from one team, like with (Liverpool) where there are six players who are in the England squad. That helps me.
"We've also got staff here from Liverpool, so I think, all in all, there's nine of us. So that's great for Martin Kelly, who has played one game for England which was in Norway. It's great for him to be around everyone who he has been around every day in training for Liverpool."
Carroll made his England debut against tonight's opponents France back in November 2010 alongside fellow debutant Henderson on a night when the tall forward left the field to a standing ovation from the Wembley crowd.
And Liverpool's No.9 is hoping he can play his part when the Three Lions face les Bleus at the Donbass Arena in Donetsk this evening.
"The first game is always important to get the confidence up and everyone is looking forward to it," insisted Carroll. "The manager has made it clear what he wants from us. I just cannot wait for the game against France."
