Day 9: I missed Carra!
LFC TV's Matt Critchley is in Poland and Ukraine to bring us daily updates as 16 nations compete for the Euros crown. Here he fills us in about his fears of crowd trouble and explains his annoyance at missing out on a chat with Jamie Carragher.
England 3-2 Sweden, but let's not get carried away just yet. Roy Hodgson's side still have to get a result against Ukraine, on their home patch, to progress, and that will be far from straight-forward.
Still, positive signs from last night, not least that link up between Steven Gerrard and Andy Carroll for England's first goal. A strike that probably put a smile on the face of a Northern Irishman as well. I'm sure our new manager would have been pleased with what he saw last night.
Here in Warsaw, though, the talk is all about the Poles and the Russians, playing in two different stadiums, more than 250 miles apart, yet still there are concerns that more violence could erupt on the streets of the Polish capital.
About 20,000 Russians were in the city on Tuesday for the game with Poland and many of them have stayed here for the match with Greece tonight. With more than 100,000 local supporters expected to pack out the huge fan zone in the heart of the capital once again, the threat of trouble looms, although the police have promised to flood the steers once again. They did a magnificent job the other day and I hope they repeat the trick - I'll be in that fan zone later!
The other thing I learnt yesterday - don't go to bed early. I had watched Italy v Croatia and then Spain v Ireland on Thursday night but then decided to hit the sack. I woke up yesterday to hear from one of my colleagues of a great hour or so spent in a bar around the corner from my hotel with none other than Roy Keane, Patrick Vieira and Jamie Carragher! They'd just come off air on ITV and were relaxing and talking about their greatest Premier League side of all time, apparently. What a night to miss!
