Andy Carroll insists England are confident of sealing their place in the knockout stages of Euro 2012 following Friday's dramatic 3-2 victory over Sweden.

A draw against host nation Ukraine on Tuesday will be enough to see the Three Lions through to the quarter-finals.

And Carroll, who put England on their way to victory over Sweden with a towering header, claims confidence is high within the camp.

The Liverpool striker said: "We think we can finish the job against Ukraine. We are confident.

"We will just need a point to go through but we will go there and try and get the win."

England had to come from behind to claim victory after Carroll's opener as Sweden went into a 2-1 lead in the second half.

However, efforts from Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck put Roy Hodgson's men on the brink of the last eight.

Carroll added: "It was a great performance by everyone and we stuck with it when we went 2-1 down and fought back.

"We've got a great team spirit going on. We just had to stick together. No-one's head dropped.

"We are really close. Back at the camp, we all stick together, we are all good friends and have a laugh and a joke. That is a key really."

Carroll's powerful 23rd minute header capped an excellent individual display from the Liverpool forward - and he was left satisfied with his performance.

"I just went out there and gave it my all really against Sweden," said the 23-year-old.

"We'll just have to see what happens the next game. But it was a great feeling to start against Sweden.

"I was told on the morning of the game, got my head around it during the afternoon.

"It was a massive game for myself and my country and to come out and score and win was great."
