LFC TV's Matt Critchley is in Poland and Ukraine to bring us daily updates as 16 nations compete for the Euros crown.

So to the last day of the group stages, with England needing a result against Ukraine on their home patch to go through to the quarter-finals. It will be far from easy.

12 days into the tournament, it feels as though everybody is ready to move on to the knockout stages. UEFA have announced plans to increase the competition to include 24 teams for Euro 16 in France - an idea, it seems, few are in favour of.

The current format works, and works well. Many are already labelling this as potentially one of the greatest championships in history.

Although yesterday's football did little to help that reputation. Spain looked edgy against Croatia - their manager admitted as much afterwards - and whilst Italy beat Ireland, this is no great Italian side.

England will face one of those two in the quarters if they go through...how they must prey it's the Azzuri.

Andy Carroll could have done little more with his chance to impress against Sweden on Friday night. I hope he keeps his place in the side, although the feeling over here is that Roy Hodgson may choose to partner Danny Welbeck with Wayne Rooney up front.

It's an afternoon with Pierluigi Collina for me today, with the 'bald eagle' conducting some interviews at the National Stadium in Warsaw and talking about the level of refereeing in the tournament so far.

We've not been talking too much about the refs, so I'm guessing it must be pretty good.

I was at the opening game - Poland v Greece -and the Spanish ref had a bit of a shocker there, but other than that the men in the middle have done their job pretty well. Let's see how they cope now some real 'knockout' pressure is applied.

My final tip of the day - if you're in Warsaw and fancy taking in a Spanish game in a Spanish bar/restaurant then don't consult the official tournament guide of 'where to watch the games'. A colleague and I spent an hour and a half looking for the highly recommended 'Tapa y Toro', only to be told, with just a hint of a smile by a polite Pole, that it shut in March.

If the editor of the 'Warsaw Insider' is reading this...you're sacked.
