96 names speech wins award
MP Steve Rotheram's emotional Hillsborough address has been named Parliamentary Speech of the Year.
The Walton MP's speech to the House of Commons in October included the names of all those who died following the 1989 tragedy - ensuring the 96 were recorded on Hansard, the parliamentary records, for the first time.
It was a clear and evocative summary of why the fight for justice continues, and it has now been recognised with an award.
Mr Rotheram tweeted:
Thanks to those who voted. Delighted to be awarded Parliamentary Speech of the Year at @politicshomeuk awards tonight. Justice for the 96.
