Transfers: What the papers say
As the opening of the summer transfer window edges ever nearer, the Reds are being linked with a whole host of players in the media. Liverpoolfc.com takes a look at some of the more recent speculation.
Gylfi Sigurdsson is one man who has been heavily tipped to move to Anfield this pre-season in the press, and on Tuesday the Liverpool Echo claimed the Icelander was closing in on completing a switch to Merseyside.
After enjoying a fruitful loan spell under Brendan Rodgers at Swansea in the second half of last term, it's been reported Hoffenheim head coach, and ex-Liverpool defender, Markus Babbel has allowed Sigurdsson an extended break to finalise a permanent move to the Barclays Premier League.
On Monday, the Echo had suggested the 22-year-old is keen on being reunited with Rodgers at Anfield.
Another midfielder to be linked with the Reds is Atletico Madrid's Raul Garcia, with the Daily Mail last Friday saying two Premier League clubs have shown an interest in the Spaniard - one of whom is Liverpool.
Meanwhile, another La Liga man the Daily Mail alleged is attracting interest from Melwood is Barcelona youngster Cristian Tello, with reports last Thursday claiming the Reds will have to pay around £7m for the 20-year-old Spain youth international.
Two young strikers were linked with Liverpool on Wednesday. TalkSport reported the Reds are one of several clubs interested in snapping up Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata after he was told he could leave Jose Mourinho's men. The 19-year-old is said to be set to make a decision on his future next month.
Inter Milan forward Luc Castaignos was also said to be attracting interest from Anfield, according to Sportinglife.com who reported the 19-year-old will leave the Nerazzurri this summer.
At the weekend, the Daily Express mentioned Roma's Italy striker Fabio Borini with Liverpool, and on Friday Givemefootball.com wrote Juventus winger Milos Krasic may be the subject of a £6m bid from the Reds.
Away from Italy, the Daily Mail said on Tuesday Liverpool had joined Chelsea, Arsenal, QPR and Newcastle in showing an interest in Wigan forward Victor Moses.
Elsewhere, TalkSport claimed on Wednesday Liverpool and Newcastle have been alerted to reports that Inter Milan have bid for Lyon left-back Aly Cissokho. They suggested the Italians have lodged a bid of £6m, though Lyon are looking for a fee almost double that.
