Craig Bellamy has been selected by Stuart Pearce for the Great Britain football team which will compete at the 2012 Olympic Games.

The Welshman was named among the 18-man squad announced today, alongside fellow countryman Ryan Giggs and Manchester City defender Micah Richards as the team's three designated over-age players.

Bellamy has previously described the tournament, which runs from July 26 to August 11 across England, Scotland and Wales, as a 'different challenge'.

Team GB have been drawn with Uruguay, Senegal and United Arab Emirates as they go in search of a fourth gold medal in football.

Bellamy is currently in his second spell at Anfield, having returned to the club in August 2011, and has 18 goals in 79 appearances for the Reds.
