The players were joined by parents and coaches in the Champions Suite for a celebration of their achievements over the last year.

Medals were handed out to all players while a select few received a special accolade as they were presented with the Player of the Year awards.

The Ability Counts programme is part of the club's Respect 4 All disability centre, which provides opportunities to play football to those who are visually impaired, physically disabled, have severe learning difficulties or are wheelchair users.

The teams compete at regional, national and even European level to great success - and this season was no exception.

LFC disability coach John Shaw said: "Ability Counts is the competitive aspect of our Respect 4 All programme and tonight is a celebration of the whole season and a chance to get the players, parents, carers and everyone together, and just having lots of fun.

"It's about recognising their achievements - and there have been so many achievements, and highlights over the last year.

"Some of the lads went onto the pitch at Anfield when the first team played Bolton, and we even had some of the reserve-team players come up and play some matches with them, which was a great opportunity for our lads to play football with some of our future stars.

"Recently we have just been to Switzerland and the lads came second in a competition, but it's not always about winning.

"In fact, a Manchester City coach told us he thought our lads were been absolutely fantastic with the smiles on their faces and the encouragement they displayed.

"For someone from another club to say that is a real highlight for all of us and we're really proud of them all."
