Reds serve up Wimbledon glory
Two passionate Liverpool fans were crowned Wimbledon champions last night after pulling off an historic and unlikely victory in the final of the men's doubles.
Local-born Jonathan Marray and his Danish partner Frederik Nielsen defeated the fifth seeds Robert Lindstedt of Sweden and Romania's Horia Tecau, who were clear favourites to clinch the title.
Marray, who was born in Mossley Hill in Liverpool but is now based in Sheffield, was the stand-out performer on the night as he and Nielsen, playing in just their fourth tournament together, took the Wimbledon title 4-6, 6-4, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3.
In doing so, Kopite Marray became the first British man to win a doubles crown since 1936 and Liverpool FC led the way in congratulating him and fellow Red Nielsen on their fantastic victory.
Forget Murray Mania! Two big @LFC fans tasted glory yesterday when they won the doubles final. Take a bow @freddienielsen & @jonnymarray
