Liverpool Football showed their continued support for the Anthony Walker Foundation as coaches from the club were in attendance at the annual festival held in celebration of his life.

The Anthony Walker Festival has been held every year since the teen's death in July 2005.

The Festival, held at Liverpool Guild of Students, brings together law enforcement agencies and local communities and aims to promote racial equality and diversity through education, music and sport.

Gee Walker told Liverpoolfc.com: "We join together to celebrate Anthony's life with music, entertainment and sport, lots of basketball playing, the things that he liked to do.

"There is so much going on, and we are blessed with sunshine and that is something to be thankful for and in itself to be celebrated.

"People from as far as America are here today to support us and I'm just thankful that Liverpool FC has turned out also to support us.

"The comment from outsiders is they've not seen so many people of races join together, and they are amazed and that is something the foundation celebrates is racial harmony, bringing people together, which is Anthony's legacy and it is to be celebrated and I am just thankful for that."

Local musicians took to the stage throughout the day to entertain attendees, including BBC's The Voice Jay Norton and a headline performance from X-Factor finalist Misha B.

Sport has become an increasing part of the foundation's work, and coaches from the LFC foundation offered a soccer clinic as part of the day's activities.

An obstacle course was set up for the children in attendance and a competition was held with the chance to win prizes donated by the football club.

Rishi Jain Social Inclusion Officer said: "We've always had a really strong relationship with the Anthony Walker Foundation so being involved today has been really good for the LFC foundation, the football club and Anthony Walker Foundation.

"The theme is diversity through sport of the Anthony Walker Festival, and Anthony himself was a big sportsman so to be involved as a football club is brilliant."
