Ladies appoint new manager
Liverpool Ladies have confirmed the appointment of Matt Beard as their new manager.
The former Chelsea boss has agreed a two-year deal to take over the reins following the departure of Robbie Johnson by mutual consent in June.
LFC director of corporate relations and communications, Jen Chang, said: "We're delighted to appoint Matt as the new manager of Liverpool Ladies.
"We interviewed a number of outstanding candidates, but Matt's tactical acumen and emphasis on a possession-based attacking style of play is an ideal fit with the long-term vision and philosophy that we are implementing for LFC Ladies."
Beard resigned from his role at Chelsea Ladies in July following three years with the club, during which time he guided them to the final of the 2012 FA Women's Cup final.
He has also previously worked at Charlton Athletic and Millwall.
Beard's first game in charge is likely to be a pre-season friendly against Manchester City at Skelmersdale United on Wednesday evening. The Reds ladies will then take on Watford on Sunday.
