Carroll gets England call
Andy Carroll has been named in the England squad for the forthcoming friendly against Italy in Berne on Wednesday night.
Senior players from across the Barclays Premier League have been omitted as Roy Hodgson looks to give some of his young talents a chance against the Euro 2012 finalists by naming an experimental squad.
Carroll made his international debut against France on November 17, 2010. He scored his first goal against Ghana in March 2011 and opened the scoring for the Three Lions with a towering header against Sweden in their second group game of Euro 2012.
