Liverpool's latest signing Joe Allen was one of six Reds in action on Wednesday night as international friendlies took place around the world.

Allen played the full 90 minutes for Wales as Chris Coleman's side lost 2-0 to Bosnia and Herzegovina. They fell behind to a Vedad Ibisevic tap-in on 20 minutes before Miroslav Stevanovic fired a second after half-time.

Andy Carroll was the only Liverpool player in action for England as Roy Hodgson deployed a team chosen from an experimental squad in Berne against Euro 2012 finalists Italy.

The Three Lions fell behind early on to a clever Danielle de Rossi header. However, they levelled when Phil Jagielka nodded home a Frank Lampard corner.

Carroll was withdrawn at half-time before Jermaine Defoe went on to hammer home England's winner on 79 minutes.

One of the most interesting clashes of the night, as far as Reds fans were concerned, was the friendly that pitted central-defensive partners Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel against each other as Denmark took on Slovakia.

Tobias Mikkelsen gave the Danes the lead but they were pegged back just after the hour mark when Martin Jakubko equalised. Marek Hamsik fired Slovakia in front with 20 minutes left on the clock before Lubomir Guldan wrapped up a 3-1 victory.

Charlie Adam played the full 90 minutes for Scotland as they beat Australia 3-1 at Easter Road. Craig Levein's side found themselves a goal behind on 22 minutes when Mark Bresciano smashed a superb volley past Allan McGregor.

Jordan Rhodes pulled the Scots level before Australia's Jason Davidson turned the ball past his own 'keeper to give them the lead and Ross McCormack sealed the win.

Meanwhile Pepe Reina started in goal for Spain's clash against Puerto Rico and Sebastian Coates was an unused substitute as Uruguay drew with France.
