A film which charts the progress of six Liverpool fans who ran from Sheffield to Liverpool in memory of the 96 people who lost their lives at Hillsborough will premiere in the city on Saturday, August 25.

'We Never Run Alone. 3 days, 6 Runners, 76 Miles, 96 Liverpool Fans' follows the team's journey from the Leppings Lane End at Hillsborough to the centre circle at Anfield and shows how £15,000 was raised for groups connected to the disaster.

Dom Williams, who came up with the idea for the run after seeing the Hillsborough mosaic at Liverpool Football Club's museum, was joined by Amerjit Taggar, Chris Dale, Neil Mitchell, John Driscoll and Earle Jackson as well as a 10-strong support team.

"Running almost 80 miles over three days was incredibly hard and looking at the film, it brings back many memories both good and bad," said Dom. "At the end of the day, we think we did the 96 proud and we hope this film shows that."

Accompanying the team was filmmaker Dan Gardner, and his film will have its premiere in Liverpool this weekend to an invitation only crowd at Studio2 on Parr Street.

"The only way I was going to get the footage I wanted was to cycle the route with the boys," explained Dan. "But cycling through fields and bogs over the Pennines was not something I had anticipated."

The six runners covered 30 miles from Sheffield to Hyde on Thursday, April 12. The following day they ran a further 30 miles to Widnes. And on April 14 it was the home stretch as the runners and their support team completed the final 16 miles to arrive at the Hillsborough Memorial on Anfield Road.

A week later, they handed over a cheque for £15,000 to representatives of the Hillsborough Family Support Group and the Hillsborough Justice Campaign at half-time during Liverpool's Barclays Premier League match against West Brom.
