Ladies set for Everton test
Liverpool FC Ladies hope to get their first victory under new manager Matt Beard when they host Everton in the derby at Skelmersdale United on Wednesday night.
The Reds were narrowly beaten on Sunday when they let a two-goal lead slip and lost 3-2 to Lincoln, and they hope to bounce back against the Blues.
In the last meeting between the two teams Everton beat Liverpool 2-0 back in May, so Beard's side will be hoping to redress the balance on Wednesday night.
Beard told Liverpoolfc.com: "Derby games are like cup finals and this one is no exception with local bragging rights at stake.
"This is going to be our most difficult game since I came in as Everton are one of the best sides in the country but we will try and make it tough for them and we will certainly be going for the win.
"There were some pleasing aspects of our performance against Lincoln and it was frustrating not to get anything out of it, and it was just a little bit of naivety that cost us.
"We have made some good progress in the short space of time since I've been at the club and we are improving. The attitude of the players has been excellent."
Liverpool might currently be second from bottom in the Women's Super League, but with just three games left this season after the derby, there is no relegation and Beard is currently assessing his squad and making plans for the future.
If you want to get down to Skelmersdale United on Wednesday night to support the ladies, admission is just £4.50 with U16s free if accompanied by an adult. Kick-off is at 7.30pm BST.
