Six young Reds were in action for their national sides on Monday night at both U21 and U19 level.

Jordan Henderson skippered England as they edged Norway in their U21 European Championship qualifier at Proact Stadium in Chesterfield. Manager Stuart Pearce also named Martin Kelly and Jonjo Shelvey in his side for the clash.

Forward Connor Wickham put the Young Lions ahead on 43 minutes capitalising on a defensive mix-up before side-footing past Arild Ostbo to clinch England's winner.

Elsewhere, Samed Yesil continued his fine goalscoring form by firing for Germany in their friendly against Wales U19s. The striker had struck twice last Thursday to see off England and he was lethal again on Monday night as he netted the first as the Germans ran-out 3-1 winners.

Danny Wilson played the full 90 minutes as Scotland U21s narrowly lost out to Austria in their European Championship qualifier. A late winner from Raphael Holzhauser left the Scots' qualification hopes in jeopardy.

Meanwhile, Peter Gulacsi captained Hungary U21s to a 2-0 victory over Liechtenstein in their qualifier as goals from Attila Fiola and Balasz Balogh sealed victory for his side.
