Brighton and Hove Albion FC are to stage a moment of reflection for Hillsborough before Friday night's home clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

Seagulls manager Gus Poyet and chief executive Paul Barber have also posted messages in their official matchday programme.

Poyet said: "Ahead of kick-off, we will take a moment of reflection in light of the Hillsborough report published earlier this week. I was not in England at the time, but it was still a tragedy which touched the entire football world. At last the families of those who died and the people of Liverpool have some closure and tonight we will have the opportunity to reach out and show our respect to the 96."

Barber added: "Finally, on a more sombre but very important note, as football fans we welcomed this week's news of the outcome of the Hillsborough report. It will finally give some closure and peace to the many families affected by the tragic events of that April afternoon in 1989. Tonight we will have an opportunity for a moment of quiet reflection."
