Enrique: Suso has what it takes

The 18-year-old made his senior debut for the Reds in last week's thrilling 5-3 Europa League victory over Young Boys in Switzerland.

He followed it up with an impressive performance against Manchester United on Sunday after being introduced into the action at half-time.

Enrique is well aware of Suso's ability having struck up a close friendship with the forward - and he's predicting a bright future for the No.30.

"I know Suso well because we speak Spanish together and I think he is a top player already," he said. "He can be a really top player for Liverpool and for any team in the world.

"I tell him he has to work very hard in the Premier League and work back like all the other players. That is very important, but I tell him if he works hard he has all the qualities.

"I think he is ready now. We saw that against Manchester United. He played very well. We knew Raheem Sterling was confident because we have seen him play a few times already, but he surprised me by trying all the things he is trying in matches at 17-years-old.

"But all the young players were amazing against Young Boys."

Suso is likely to be involved for Liverpool again in tonight's Capital One Cup third-round tie at West Bromwich Albion.

Following their fine display against Young Boys, Brendan Rodgers is set to offer several of his promising youngsters another chance to impress - and Enrique is confident they have what it takes to get Liverpool's defence of the League Cup off to a successful start.

"Every competition is important and we all remember the League Cup well from last season," he added.

"It might be a young team again, but we saw in Switzerland how good the young players at the club are.

"They were amazing against Young Boys. To score five goals away from home in that competition was amazing.

"We were very proud of the young players."
