BR: Wisdom, a modern full-back
Brendan Rodgers believes Andre Wisdom can become an ideal modern full-back for Liverpool.
The 19-year-old is one of a clutch of youngsters who have broken into the first team this season under the new manager, and marked his debut against Young Boys two weeks ago with a goal.
Wisdom - who signed a new long-term contract with the club last summer - has been a regular for England youth teams for several years, but has operated most often at centre-back.
However, Rodgers sees no reason why he cannot shine on the right.
"When I came in, Andre Wisdom had been playing a lot at centre-half but he has the physical and technical capacity to play full-back," said the boss.
"The modern day full-back has a lot of the ball and he has got to have strength, pace and power. Andre has that."
Another teen who received praise from Rodgers was Suso, whose name was sung by the travelling fans during his first Barclays Premier League start at the weekend.
"Suso is a technician and I like technically gifted players who can tactically participate in the game," said the manager.
"We had offers for him to go abroad but he was keen to stay, he understood he was going to get a chance here.
"He is tactically very good, strong technically with the ball. He makes things happen. I love that type of player. Talent finds space. He is a real talent.
"He is in the reckoning and he is a good kid as well. I have noticed a big progression in him from the pre-season tour of America - I have seen a real difference in the last couple of months and he has got a good appetite for the game.
"He is on the same page in terms of the tactical idea for the team. If his fight matches his talent we will have a very good player."
Suso and Wisdom have been joined in and around the first-team squad by fellow youngsters like Raheem Sterling, Adam Morgan and 16-year-old Jerome Sinclair, who became the club's youngest ever player against West Brom last week.
Rodgers added: "The plan between the window closing and January was to see how many of the young, talented players are going to be able to come into our squad - and I've been very, very pleased by the impact they've made.
"They have played with no fear, but I always say young players will run through a barbed wire fence for you. You have seen that in games.
"There is no problem and for me status does not matter. It is what you are like as a player. It doesn't matter how much money you have come for, that doesn't matter to me.
"I will play a 17-year-old if he fights and he has quality."
Rodgers was at the Academy on Monday to cast an eye over his U21 hopefuls as they beat Fulham 3-0.
