Raheem Sterling is one of four Liverpool players to be named in the England U21 squad for next week's Euro 2013 play-off against Serbia.

The 17-year-old is in Stuart Pearce's party for the first time, joining Andre Wisdom, Jordan Henderson and Jonjo Shelvey on the 26-man list.

He has previously featured for the U19s, and was called into the senior squad for experience by Roy Hodgson last month.

The four Liverpool boys will join Pearce's men ahead of the first leg in Norwich on October 12.

"For Raheem, to have an insight into the senior team, is fantastic," said Pearce.

"He's been in our development squads and has done extremely well for Liverpool, and credit to Brendan Rodgers, who has given him his chance. We are pleased to have him.

"Roy and I have had a really good conversation in relation to my squad, last night being the last time we spoke, and he is more than aware of the U21s' key players.

"What's certain is the players are at the centre of the decisions both Roy and I make."

The two-legged play-off will decide if England make it to their fourth successive finals tournament.
