Jonjo: I've thanked Roy
Jonjo Shelvey thanked England manager Roy Hodgson after making his first senior international appearance in the 5-0 victory over San Marino on Friday night.
The 20-year-old replaced Michael Carrick after 66 minutes of the World Cup qualifier and looked more than comfortable in front of the Wembley faithful.
Afterwards he told FATV: "Things couldn't have gone any better. I've thanked Roy for giving me a chance to go out and show what I'm worth and hopefully I can get many more call-ups.
"I'm buzzing to have played my first game, especially being at Wembley in front of the England crowd.
"I just got told to keep the ball moving and to keep the game flowing, and I think I did that.
"Whether I get the next call-up is down to the manager but I feel like I've proven my worth and that I can play at this level."
Hodgson was also responsible for giving Shelvey his Liverpool debut in September 2010 in a League Cup defeat to Northampton Town.
