Becoming an official Liverpool Football Club member has even more perks than you might imagine – as a number of supporters both young and old discovered recently.

When Reds captain Steven Gerrard attended a special event to sign copies of his new book, My Liverpool Story, last month, four fortunate fans were chosen at random for an extra special prize.

The quartet of members, only two of whom could actually be there on the day, were given a free signed edition of Gerrard's book and taken to meet their hero in person before the event began in earnest.

The skipper posed for pictures with Bernard Doherty and Laura Woodcock, as well as the other two winners' representatives, Anthony Clarke and Susannah Donaldson.

Then last weekend it was our junior members' turn to be spoiled, as a pair of lucky 10-year-olds were given the chance to lend a hand to former Reds striker John Aldridge and club mascot Mighty Red.

Aldridge and Mighty were joined by competition winners Jack Barnes and Adam Soames at the Boot Room Sports Cafe at Cheshire Oaks to open a new, state-of-the-art penalty shoot-out simulator attraction.

After the juniors had their fill of the simulator, which measures the power of your shot, free food and drinks were provided and everybody went home with an LFC goody bag.

Official members receive 10 per cent discount at the two Boot Room Sports Cafes when ordering food and on all purchases at official club shops and the online store.

Keep an eye out for more exclusive opportunities and prize competitions for official members throughout the season and maybe you will get the chance to meet your heroes...
